A vacancy has arisen for a Squadron Leader (Any Profession) to serve as the Executive Officer at 4626 Aeromedical Evacuation (AE) Sqn RAuxAF, RAF Brize Norton on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of being not before 02 September 2026 (or later, subject to candidate status). 4626 AE Sqn is an RAF Medical Reserve Sqn based at RAF Brize Norton. The primary role of 4626 AE Sqn is to recruit, train and provide fully trained medical Reserve personnel, of various medical professions (including Drs, nurses and Allied Health professionals), to support the RAF and Defence on operational tasks in the UK and abroad.
The successful applicant will be responsible to Officer Commanding (OC) 4626 AE Sqn for the management and delivery of all day-to-day operations and business at 4626 AE Sqn.
Responsibilities:- Manage the day-to-day business and output of 4626 AE Sqn, in line with OC 4626 AE Sqn's direction and the Sqn Management Plan.
- Act as the 2I/C of the Sqn and deputy to the OC in their absence and keep them updated on all matters affecting the functioning and output of the Sqn.
- Attend and support 4626 AE Sqn weekend duty events and activities, as required.
- Oversee all support of Sqn personnel and conduct governance and management checks of the A1 and Health Professional Governance functions.
- Provide advice and support to the Sqn training team to ensure that all medical operational capability preparation is being met in line with Comd Med’s Directive.
- Liaise with HOE, HQ 2 Gp Res, HQ Res Directorate, SEWRSW, Profession Advisor Teams, SERFCA, RAFRLO SE, Med Reserve Wing and all stakeholders relevant to 4626 AE Sqn's business.
- Contribute to the Sqn Management Plan, In-Year Delivery Plan and all other documents in the Sqn Management Document Set.
- Draft quarterly, annual, and other reports as required by Higher HQ for the OC.
- Draft Sqn Business Cases and act as point of contact for all budgetary, infrastructure, parenting and resource issues.
- Manage the safety, welfare and morale of all Sqn Reservists and HQ staff.
- Act as Flt Cdr and line manager and manage the day-to-day operations, output and professional development of the HQ Flight personnel.
- Act as the Unit Employment Engagement Officer facilitating all relations with employers for mobilisation.
- Oversee Sqn social media and community engagement activities.
- Assure the completion of Sqn F540 returns.
- Oversee the annual arrangements for the Sqn Social and Ents Cttee.
- As an integral member of the Sqn, the post holder will be expected to work on Sqn Duty weekends and participate in other Sqn events and activities as necessary.
