Unit Function: IWC’s mission is to direct the development, preparation, integration, assurance and analysis to create advantage for the Joint Force.
Position Role: IWC XO is responsible to DIWC, through the IWC COS and 1-Star Heads for inward and outward facing co-ordination to deliver DIWC’s objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Staff Officer through COS IWC to DIWC and the IWC Command Group.
- Manage IWCs daily workflow through linking tasks to IWC subject matter experts and assisting COS IWC in the delivery of the IWC battle rhythm, deputising in his absence.
- Pan Directorate coordination including the allocation of tasks and personnel across IWC to deliver DIWC objectives as effectively as possible.
- Co-ordinate the execution of 2* quarterly command boards, away days and other board activity.
- Run the internal trawls process in support of higher HQs, allocating nominations to task on behalf of DIWC.
- Divisional POC for Business Continuity Management; including the coordination of IWC’s involvement in HQ/CSOC/Northwood HQ BCM exercises and planning.
- Provide support staff to DIWC, three x 1-Star pillars and other miscellaneous tasks.
- Coordination of the IWC FOE including allocation of DIWC Cmd Bd tasks to respective IWC branch COS’s.
- Cohere Nwd Site station support on behalf of the IWC.
- Run the DIWC Risk Register on behalf of the IWC.
- Act as reporting officer to 2 x Admin Support service personnel.
Local Considerations:
Single or unaccompanied officers may be required to occupy SSSA for the duration of their assignment. Officers should be aware that the London ULEZ zone is close to Northwood with some SFA estate inside the ULEZ boundary.
Employer Comments:
This position requires the officer to work harmoniously in a joint environment and to liaise successfully with a wide variety of contacts within and outside of Defence. The post will provide incumbents with exposure to Ops Sp, MD and DE CFs and work alongside PJHQ. They will gain an understanding of force development processes, principally focussed on warfare development for the joint/integrated force.
