Subject to formal establishment, Joint Boarding process and sS Policies, a vacancy will arise for a SO2 to serve as SO2 PLANS: EX SAIF SAREEA 4, at Northwood HQ with travel to Oman on Additional Duties Commitment; Short-term Tasks Voluntary Training or Other Duties (VTOD) Terms and Conditions of Service (TaCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 01 Nov 2026 (or earlier/later, subject to formal establishment and candidate status).

Up to 120 RSDs per year / total are available for the right candidate to conduct the role.

Unit Function:

Integrated Warfare Centre's purpose is to enable the current Joint Force to operate, integrate, innovate, develop and adapt.

Position Role:

Staff Officer (SO2) with focus on Ex SAIF SAREEA 4 planning and execute. Includes provision of advice to Hd JFTI (OF6).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Planning of Tier 4 (Strategic) collective training events activity for SAIF SAREEA 4 iaw the TRA’s requirement.
  • Lead on implementing the required exercise governance through the running of SGs and planning conferences.
  • Co-ordinate the production of all exercise governance & scenario documentation i.e. EXPLAN, MEL/MIL, OSW.
  • Liaise with TRA, OGDs, NGOs, MOD, single service HQs, allies and coalition partners to ensure exercise requirements are met. Focal point for all internal and external SAIF SAREEA 4 stakeholders.
  • Scope and develop experimentation opportunities within Joint Exercises context.
  • Act as an exercise planning team member across J/ Staff Branches managing theme, event and inject serials as part of Exercise Development pathway.
  • Fill a post within the Exercise Control (EXCON) post Ex SAIF SAREEA Execute in 2028. Attend other JFT Ex Executes as part of PD.

• Identify and capture of JFT Exercise lessons and thus contribute to the QIP and enhanced JFT SOPs/SOIs.
