Subject to formal establishment, Joint Boarding process and single Service (sS) Policies a vacancy will arise for an OF3 to serve as SO2 J7 Collective Training at Northwood on FTRS Limited Commitment (LC) Terms and Conditions of Service (TaCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 01 Jan 27 (or earlier/later, subject to formal establishment and candidate status).

Unit Function:

Command and control of assigned forces deployed on Joint Operations.

Position Role:

SO2 J7 Collective Trg assists the SO1 J7 Collective Trg in advising CJO in the conduct of his TRA responsibilities for operational level Joint Collective Trg, and the assurance activity of related training. The incumbent assists on the shaping and setting of training objectives for PJHQ Group and others. Where possible the incumbent should have experience of the management of collective trg delivery and the joint environment, including the operational level but this is not essential to start the role. They must be professionally credible and have strong interpersonal skills. Reporting Chain: 1RO – SO1 J7 Col Trg. 2RO – DACOS J7.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the SO1 Col Trg in advising CJO in his role as TRA for operational level Joint Collective Training (Tier 3).
  • Assist the SO1 Col Trg in developing and updating the Integrated Force Collective Trg Objectives to enhance Joint Collective Trg and exercise design.
  • Assist the SO1 Col Trg in managing PJHQ Group Ex Specifications and direction (Stage 0 and 1 of the NATO exercise process).
  • Attend Ex planning conferences in liaison with the Integrated Warfare Centre and NATO counterparts as required.
  • Deputise for SO1 J7 Col Trg as required.
  • Manage the Joint Exercise Programme (JXP) as a subset of the Defence Exercise Programme (DXP).
  • Support wider PJHQ Gp J7 activity as directed.
