Subject to formal establishment, Joint Boarding process and sS Policies, a vacancy will arise for a OF3 to serve as SO2 International Experimentation at the Integrated Warfare Centre, Northwood HQ or MOD Shrivenham, on ADC/PTVR/VTOD Terms and Conditions of Service (TaCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 1 Aug 26 (or earlier/later, subject to formal establishment and candidate status). The final location will be applied for during formal establishment. Up to 180 RSDs per year are available for the right candidate to conduct the role. The role has scope to extend past 31 July 2027.

Unit Function: The role of the Integrated Warfare Centre (IWC) is to optimise and adapt the current integrated force, through concepts and warfare development, to support UK and NATO joint commanders to achieve operational advantage over adversaries, across the continuum of competition.

Position Role: The International Experimentation team is responsible for delivering UK effort to NATO and Partner Nation experimentation exercises to support warfare development. SO2 International Experimentation will play a central role in the coordination and execution of that effort, ensuring that planning, administration and technical support aligns to allow successful participation. This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated, organised OF3 with experience in managing concurrent lines of effort, to work in a dynamic exciting environment at the cutting edge of warfare development. The role presents opportunities to travel to international exercises, events and planning conferences, and to be exposed to activity that will broaden and develop general staff skills and more specialist SQEP.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake supporting planning for International Experimentation activity.
  • Coordinate official visits and stakeholder engagements required to enable experimentation (incl. liaison with PJHQ / British Defence Sections for country permissions where required).
  • Plan and coordinate team logistics for experimentation delivery: travel, accommodation, attendance/admin enablers and ensuring the team can deploy to events as required.
  • Maintain and develop an integrated master schedule: experimentation events, PEE sessions, key milestones, decision points.
  • Support development of the Persistent Experimentation Environment as a “software-defined” environment focused on interoperability outcomes (how systems work together seamlessly), including Data Exchange and C2 Integration.
  • Maintain financial tracking and business rhythm: keep track of financial management items and liaise with the IWC central admin support team.
  • Carry out additional directed tasks from Chain of Command as required.
