Unit & Position Role

Headquarters for Integrated Global Defence Network (IGDN) (previously known as Directorate Overseas Bases / PJOBS); administrative headquarters, providing direction, policy advice, governance and oversight for the Overseas Territories and Defence Section network.

SO2 J5A – Role is focused on up and out elements of the plans function for IGDN.

· Interaction with MOD for Strategic Plans at desk level.

· Joint Contingency Plans review and refresh.

· Business Continuity Plans review and refresh.

· Scoping studies as directed to develop future plans for Overseas Bases

· Interaction with PJHQ for operational considerations for Overseas Bases

· Develop networks of interested stakeholders across UK Defence

· Provide support to long term planning efforts for future basing including Oman.

· Directives for Overseas Base locations; development of staff work.

· Support capability building / improvements on front line bases.

Responsibilities

In addition to the bullet points made above, this role is responsible for providing a level of assurance for the IGDN SLT, and guidance to front line bases on continuity and contingency plans.

This role is required to support wider IGDN HQ sections to generate operational justification and impact statements for capability building / improvement.

Local Considerations

• Some travel for short periods (1-2 weeks maximum).
• Childcare centre at Northwood.
• Unaccompanied may be allocated SSSA.
• Ability to WFH 40% of the working week.
