The Armed Forces Recruiting Service (AFRS) will see MOD, Serco and their consortium of partners providing a Tri-Service recruiting solution, which for the RN will commence on 1 Apr 27. AFRS will provide end to end support from candidate attraction to assessment to preparing to join Phase 1 training. The solution will utilise Service Personnel in high value candidate facing roles in the Command and Support Unit and in recruitment, selection, Under-Represented Groups, outreach and the national career centre.

Unit & Position RoleThe HQ AFR will deliver integrated tri-service recruitment for the Armed Forces to build and maintain force levels able to meet Defence outputs. Assessment of candidates’ suitability for Other Rank (OR) training and execution of assessment events and exercises at Assessment Centre.
Responsibilities- Conduct briefing sessions, assessment selection exercises and interviews of candidates.
- Evaluate each Candidate against fixed event exercise criteria.
- Make recommendations regarding the candidate’s suitability for a career in the Services and chosen role.
- Ensure that accurate and relevant event and result records and observations are created and maintained for all OR candidates, using AFRS system.
- As directed assist the development of selection process through reviews of assessment practice, support assurance and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure the safety of candidates on test in accordance with Assessment Centre standing orders/SOPs.
- Share personal, lived experience of life in the Armed Forces to engage and inform candidates.
- Provision of DoC / pastoral care and welfare support to Candidates and U18s in accordance with the HoE Supervisory Care Directive.
