71 (Y) Sig Regt are recruiting several OR7 for Tp SSgt roles across all sub units located in SE England and London. The ideal candidate would be experienced in Bowman and FFR GeV and have military qualifications to deliver ITR training to service personnel within a Troop.

As a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO), they would be required to mentor and develop the Troop Commander and Sergeant across G1-9 and actively support the Squadron Sergeant Major (SSM), deputising during periods of absence. When deployed on exercise, they would lead on Troop deployment planning and identify logistic support requirements, submitting demands in a timely manner to the Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant (SQMS).

  • Supervise Detachment Commanders in the maintenance of a Communications Detachment in line with the Squadron EC Policy.
  • Ensure all detachments within the Troop are deployable and capable of providing robust tactical communications across VHF, HF & UHF.
  • Act as Reporting Officer delivering intimate Command Management (CM) and Management Support (MS) as required.
  • Support the Troop Commander in the administration and management of the Troop.
  • Assist (and organise) Annual ITR training for subordinates.
  • Deploy on exercises as the senior Networks Engineer and Combat Service Support (CSS) Operator for the Troop.

Secondary tasks:

  • Active member of the Warrant Officers’ & Sergeants’ Mess.
  • Deputise for Troop SSgt/SSM as required.
