A vacancy has arisen for a Wing Commander (Any Profession) to serve as Dep Comdt Tedder Academy at RAFC Cranwell on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 27 July 2026 (or earlier/later subject to candidate status).
Responsibilities
- As Chief of Staff for the Tedder Academy, cohere output across the Academy, manage inputs and demands upon personnel, and lead on all reports and returns.
- Act as interlocutor with other Group and College Pillars.
- On behalf of Cmdt Tedder, programme and shape HQ Tedder Leadership Academy resources to deliver agreed Tedder Leadership Academy outputs.
- With Delegated Authority, act as the Academy's Budget Manager. Hold an ePC to support Academy business as required.
- Lead on the production of academy strategy in line with Cmdt Tedder's direction including an outreach strategy through the design and delivery of Tedder: Your Way.
- Lead on Coaching and Mentoring including Reverse Mentoring for Tedder in line with Cmdt Tedder's intent. Ensure the provision of robust governance and assurance framework alongside a comprehensive coaching and mentoring strategy. Chair the Coaching & Mentoring WG.
- Represent the RAF on external mentoring steering groups as required and in support of other external mentoring initiatives.
- Lead on the production and editing of frequent Spotlights on Leadership.
- Actively engage with the Defence Leadership Network and its stakeholders, representing Cmdt Tedder at meetings and forums as required.
- In line with Cmdt Tedder's D&G, act as ProjO in the organisation of the bi-annual Chief of the Air Staff's Leadership Conference.
- Support Cmdt Tedder in the delivery of Senior Forums and the Senior Leadership Development Programme.
- Act as secretariat for the Tedder Academy Senior Advisory Panel.
- Support and advise the development of leadership guidance doctrine and policy (AP7001 and AP1).
- Develop and influence the RAF's conceptual framework for C&L.
- Deputise for Comdt Tedder as required.
- Act as immediate line manager for SO2 Leadership, 2nd RO for WO Leadership, and 3rd RO for FS Tedder as required. Additionally, act as Line Manager Officer for AO Training Spt and AO Administrative Spt.
