Company Sergeant Major (CSM) – Light Infantry Reserve Unit
The CSM is responsible for maintaining discipline, standards, and operational effectiveness within a Light Infantry Reserve Unit. The CSM is a key figure in the chain of command, acting as the senior advisor to the Company Commander on all soldier-related matters.
Key Responsibilities:

Discipline and Standards:
- Enforce military discipline and ensure adherence to the Army’s values and standards.
- Act as a role model, demonstrating exemplary conduct, leadership, and professionalism.
- Oversee the welfare, morale, and development of all soldiers within the Coy.

Training and Administration:
- Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of training activities, ensuring they meet operational requirements.
- Monitor and report on individual and collective training standards.
- Assist in the administration of personnel, including attendance, documentation, and career management.

Leadership and Mentorship:
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior NCOs, fostering their professional development.
- Act as a mentor to soldiers, offering advice and support on personal and professional matters.

Operational Readiness:
- Ensure the company is prepared for operational deployments, including equipment checks and personnel readiness.
- Support the Company Commander in the execution of orders and operational tasks.

Liaison and Communication:
- Act as a conduit between the Company Commander and soldiers, ensuring effective communication.
- Liaise with other units, departments, and external agencies as required.
