A vacancy may arise for a OR9 to OF2 to serve as ISTAR Subject Matter Expert VeRR at RAF Lossiemouth on Volunteer ex-Regular Reserve Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) 46 days, with an initial proposed start date of 01 September 2026.
Highly experienced Subject Matter Expert with in-depth knowledge of Maritime Patrol Air (MPA) procedures to supplement core JTEPS staff during the planning and execution of JTEPS-led multinational exercises.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist expertise in MPA tasking, including ASW and ASUW, ensuring the safe and effective integration of UK Poseidon MRA1 and Partner Nation (PN) aircraft into the exercise Scheme of Manoeuvre.
- Support JTEPS EXCON functions, including attendance at air planning coordination meetings as the MPA SME, ATO construction, operational message handling, compilation of classified tactical planning notes for aircrew use, and coordination of MPA safety protocols within exercise airspace.
- Contribute to a safety-critical role that delivers live unit training in support of UK Poseidon MRA1 Front Line (FL) Squadrons, 42 Sqn OCU output, and PN integration. JTEPS exercises operate a 24/7 shift pattern, including night shifts with a reduced EXCON workforce.
- Operate as fully SQEP MPA aircrew to support shifts, ensuring safe coordination with submarine controllers, other EXCON cells, and all MPA crews involved in the exercise.
- Act as an essential Individual Augmentee (IA) supporting the successful planning and delivery of missions, ensuring the safe execution of the flying programme.
- Bring extensive prior experience in JTEPS exercises; due to exercise tempo and complexity, on-the-job training for new personnel is not practicable.
- Support the Poseidon MRA1 Force as it builds towards Full Operational Capability (FOC), bolstering existing IA capacity.
- Apply intimate knowledge of JTEPS planning, tasking, and safety protocols, with preference given to candidates able to fulfil this requirement under VeRRs TCoS.
