A vacancy has arisen for a Corporal (Engineering – TG1 (Any) or TG5 (Any)) to serve as Deputy Squadron Quality Assurance Co-ordinator at RAF Lossiemouth on Additional Duties Commitment (180) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 28 September 2026 (or earlier/later, subject to candidate status).

This post will report to the Officer Commanding TSS via the Squadron Quality Assurance Coordinator (SQAC). The Cpl TSS DSQAC is responsible for:

  • Upholding the general responsibilities outlined in King’s Regulations Appendix 27 concerning the TSS Satellite Safety Cell (SSC).
  • Efficiently managing allocated resources to meet the Squadron’s operational and quality objectives.
  • Ensuring compliance with Work Instructions relevant to the SSC as detailed in the TSS Order Book.
  • Executing the duties of the DSQAC role in accordance with AP100C-10 Annex E to Order 4.
  • Leading and managing the self-audit programme, acting as Audit Team Leader (ATL), and providing mentorship to personnel throughout audit processes.
  • Conducting post-audit activities including recording, analysing trends, and reporting findings to inform continuous improvement.
  • Chairing quality meetings, proposing, and establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive section performance.
  • Delivering annual Quality Assurance (QA) and Continuous Improvement (CI) awareness briefings to all Squadron personnel.
  • Supporting the development, review, and maintenance of Squadron Quality Orders and Quality Plans.
  • Representing the Squadron at Station Satellite Safety meetings to ensure alignment with broader safety objectives.
  • Organising and performing secretarial duties for the biannual Squadron Quality and Improvement Review Meetings (SQIRM).
  • Initiating and implementing Continuous Improvement initiatives within the SSC and across the wider Squadron.
  • Overseeing the management and progress of the TSS Continuous Improvement Plan.
  • Upon qualification as a superuser/Local System Owner (LSO), maintaining TSS file plans and websites, including managing user access controls.
  • Proactively identifying potential quality and safety risks within the Squadron and recommending mitigation strategies to prevent non-compliance or operational issues.
  • Acting as a key liaison between the Squadron, Station HQ, and external agencies to ensure quality assurance standards are understood and maintained.
  • Analysing quality data and audit results to provide actionable insights and support evidence-based decision-making at Squadron and Station levels.
  • Supporting the training and development of Squadron personnel in quality assurance principles and best practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Assisting in managing the implementation of new quality assurance processes or system changes, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
  • Ensuring all quality assurance documentation is current, accurate, and compliant with regulatory and organisational standards.
  • Preparing for and supporting external audits or inspections, ensuring the Squadron is audit-ready and that findings are addressed promptly.
  • Championing quality and safety initiatives, encouraging Squadron-wide engagement and ownership of quality assurance responsibilities.
  • Undertaking additional duties commensurate with rank as directed by the SQAC.
  • Deputising for the SQAC during their absence, ensuring continuity of quality assurance leadership.
