A vacancy has arisen for a Wing Commander (People Ops) Pers Trg to serve as Inspector Adventure Training Safety at RAF Cranwell on Volunteer ex-Regular Reserve Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 01 October 2026. The Inspector Adventure Training Safety (Insp AT) is responsible for providing specialist oversight, assurance and governance across the full breadth of Adventure Training (AT) activity within the RAF.
The post provides Assurance of RAF delivered AT, excluding RAF AT activities within JSAT and the RAF Eagles Scheme, in accordance with statutory legislation, Defence Safety Authority (DSA) regulations and Defence Health, Safety and Environmental Protection (HS&EP) Policy. The Land Safety domain encompasses all RAF delivered AT activity where personnel, equipment, training systems or infrastructure are exposed to risk.
This role is offered under a hybrid working arrangement where the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a 1 hour transit time of one of the 3 main Safety Centre Hubs, RAF Honington, RAF Cranwell or RAF High Wycombe.
Responsible for:
- Ensuring risks across RAF delivered AT are identified, assessed and managed in accordance with JSP 419, AP 8000 and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Maintaining oversight of RAF delivered AT safety performance, incident trends and cross-cutting risk areas.
- Assuring that Duty Holder and Duty of Care arrangements are effective and appropriately applied.
- Providing input to policy development, audit activity and assurance reporting relating to RAF delivered AT.
- Promoting safe delivery, supervision standards and positive safety culture across the RAF delivered AT domain.
- Assuring that training systems, infrastructure and equipment are suitable, maintained and used in accordance with policy and best practice for conducting RAF AT.
