The predicted salary is between 49500 - 60500 £ per year.
Subject to ECR approval, a vacancy will arise for a Sqn Ldr AIRCREW to serve as II(AC) Sqn Mentor at RAF Lossiemouth on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 23 November 2026, or earlier/later subject to candidate status.
The Squadron Mentor is responsible for a variety of tasks to take some of the load from the Pilot Flight Commanders on the Squadron. Primarily, the Mentor will provide continuity for Squadron business by acting as Deputy Squadron Commander and Senior Subordinate Commander at RAF Lossiemouth when the Squadron deploys on operations or exercises.
Responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the Squadron Welfare Officer, ensuring that Squadron personnel and dependants are suitably supported by the appropriate agencies.
- Acting as the Squadron point of contact for honorary members, affiliated units and the Squadron Association.
- Acting as the Squadron ambassador for all history and heritage-related business, including the management of all Squadron historical holdings.
- In consultation with the Building Custodian, ensuring that the Squadron's infrastructure is appropriately maintained and enhanced where funds exist.
- Acting as the Squadron Information Asset Custodian and ensuring compliance with the appropriate data protection policies.
- If appropriately qualified, providing supervision of flying in the role of RAF Lossiemouth Supervisor of Flying (SOF) as rostered.
- Acting as a Post-Crash Management Incident Officer if required, including initial deployment to the scene of any incident within the RAF Lossiemouth area of responsibility.
- Supporting the professional development of Junior Officers on the Squadron.
- Providing oversight of ceremonial events in consultation with the Squadron Warrant Officer.
- Assisting with the readiness and preparation of all Squadron personnel for contingent operations.
- Taking the lead in hosting visits to the Squadron.
