Position Role: Provide effective armed security guarding in order to prevent infiltration, attack or damage against property or personnel. Be prepared to react to any incidents as required.

Domestic Considerations: This is a busy post requiring shift work over nights and weekends FTRS(HC) post.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to the Guard Commander (Gd Comd) for the physical armed security of the military establishment.
  • Conduct guard duties in line with the guard rota.
  • Control access and egress to the military establishment, checking identification and conducting vehicle and personnel searches as required.
  • Conduct patrols and monitor the CCTV system, reporting and responding to any suspicious activity.
  • Respond to incidents in accordance with the Barrack Incident Plan (BIP), under the direction of the Guard Commander.
  • Maintain and account for all equipment at the location in accordance with the NIGSU EC Directive.
  • Conduct training to ensure compliance with the NIGSU Training Directive.
  • Staff the telephone, mobile phone, and WAXWING radios.
  • Record and transmit all relevant incoming messages and maintain the Daily Occurrence Book.
  • Carry out additional tasks as directed by the Guard Commander.
  • Be prepared to serve at all ARC locations across Northern Ireland.
  • Be prepared to cover shortfalls at other ARC sites.
