A vacancy has arisen for a Group Captain Aero Systems Engineer (Eng(AS)) to serve as Chief Air Engineer (Test & Evaluation) (CAE(T&E)) to the Operating Duty Holder (ODH) (Air Officer Commanding Number 1 Group (AOC No 1 Gp) and Head of Systems & Safety Division at the Air & Space Warfare Centre (ASWC) at RAF Waddington on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) (FTRS(LC)) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date from 01 April 2027.
ASWC CAE(T&E) will be responsible to AOC No 1 Gp for providing technical assurance in accordance with the Military Aviation Authority (MAA) Regulatory Publications (MRP) Regulatory Article (RA)1023 for all platforms operated by the ASWC, including for all trials activities conducted by the ASWC. Furthermore, as Hd Systems & Safety Division (S&S Div), they will be responsible to Commandant (Comdt) ASWC for commanding S&S Div which includes the Joint Air Delivery Test & Evaluation Unit (JADTEU), the Total Safety Team and ASWC Standards Evaluation (StanEval) team.
Responsible to AOC No 1 Gp for:
- Preserving airworthiness within AOC No 1 Gp T&E AOR & providing assurance that all engineering & airworthiness-related activity is conducted appropriately.
- Assuring that aircraft, airborne equipment and air systems are being maintained in accordance with extant regulations and procedures.
- Assuring that engineering standards and practices are to the appropriate standard.
- Providing technical advice to the ODH on Risk to Life.
- Providing 2nd Party assurance on behalf of the ODH within his AOR to assure Delivery Duty Holder (DDH) compliance with airworthiness regulations and policy.
- Providing appropriate airworthiness and SME support to DDHs, Senior Operators, CAEs and Military Continuing Airworthiness Managers (MilCAMs).
Responsible to Comdt ASWC for:
- Command of S&S Div within the ASWC.
- Act as OF5 Chain of Command for JADTEU.
- Command the ODH-level T&E Air Safety Team.
- Command the T&E StanEval Team.
- Provide Functional Safety advice to Comdt ASWC and ASWC Div Hds.
