A vacancy has arisen for a Flight Lieutenant Any Profession to serve as CCLO XO at RAF Odiham on Full Time Reserve Service (Home Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 12 October 2026 (or earlier/later depending on individual circumstances).

The primary purpose of the CCLO XO is to expand the reach, impact and effectiveness of the RAF's Engage, Inspire to Attract (EI2A) activity across the South West Region. By identifying and exploiting engagement opportunities, you will increase awareness of RAF careers and lifestyle amongst potential applicants and key regional influencer groups, with the aim of attracting new applicants to service under Op PROSPERITY.

You will oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of a targeted programme of careers engagement activity, leveraging multi-station resources across the region, including RAF Odiham, RAF Benson and other defence units. Activity will include both face-to-face and virtual careers familiarisation events designed to maximise engagement with priority audiences which will include prospective applicants, educators, careers advisers, community leaders, youth organisations and other influencers who shape perceptions and career choices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You will be responsible for meeting the following core objectives:
  • Main Effort (ME): Oversee the planning and delivery of bespoke engagement events using assets across UK bases and other defence venues, with the aim of enhancing understanding of RAF careers and lifestyle by enabling audiences to experience authentic aspects of service life and the breadth of opportunities available ensuring they can make informed decisions about joining the Service, or positively encourage service in the RAF.
  • Deliver a dynamic approach to engaging with the whole of UK society in order to establish a substantial, sustainable and diverse population who are eligible, qualified, possess the right aptitudes and attitudes and have a propensity to serve in the RAF. Through informing and inspiring the public through Op PROPSPERITY activity optimising RAF estate, equipment, and personnel to engage in an innovative manner with priority audiences.
  • Regional Engagement/Multi-Stn Collaboration: Overseeing the planning and delivery of targeted engagement events across the region which enhance understanding of RAF careers and lifestyle by using assets at stns including RAF Odiham, RAF Benson and other defence infrastructure such as Swanwick and Boscombe Down. Source defence venues across the region to identify and deliver initiatives that enhance understanding of RAF career pathways. This includes station-level careers events, presentations (virtual and face-to-face) and wider promotional activity.
  • Engage with Stn Cdrs to deliver engagement activities aligned with AFR HQ intent and direction from SO2 EI2A, executing focused engagement activity that promotes all RAF professions in direct support of EI2A priorities, ensuring equitable access to opportunities for all potential candidates.
  • Partnership Development: Cultivate and maintain effective partnerships with educational institutions, underrepresented community groups, key influencers, MPCT Colleges and youth organisations. Plan and deliver targeted RAF familiarisation activity that accurately reflects RAF career opportunities, ethos, and lifestyle through these partnerships.
  • Under-represented Groups: Identify and signpost underrepresented groups and specialist education providers to tailored specialist RAF engagement events, assuming lead delivery responsibility with the region AOR.
  • Work Experience: Close liaison with the SO2 EI2A WExp, SERCO/sS outreach teams and the EI2A Virtual Work Experience (vWExP) contractor (Springpod) to maximise outreach opportunities and coordinate on-site engagement for successful programme participants. Ensure registered RAF vWExP learners are engaged appropriately and enable timely opportunities for engagement at in-reach events, to fully utilise learners motivation.
  • Broader Support Activity/Project Management: When capacity permits, provide project management support for Op CLOUDBURST and wider Op PROSPERITY tasks, including careers fairs, work experience initiatives aimed at promoting the RAF as a career of choice.
  • Reporting: Maintain complete and accurate EI2A activity records and submit a comprehensive monthly report, including relevant performance data and analysis, to the Chain of Command.
  • Identify and cultivate and maintain new and existing relationships with key educational establishments, MPCT colleges, youth groups, including uniformed organisations (ie Air Cadets, CCF, UAS etc) to promote RAF Careers.
  • Where capacity permits, provide support to Op CLOUDBURST and wider Op PROSPERITY tasks, including careers fairs, work experience initiatives aimed at promoting RAF careers.
  • You will act as the Recruitment & Selection (R&S) Engage Inspire to Attract (EI2A) liaison link utilising stn resources and your local network of trade/branch ambassadors to conduct in-reach activities as directed by the EI2A CoC.
  • VIRTUAL ENGAGEMENT: Act as a focal point for coordinating VIRTUAL CCLO activities including: Monthly virtual “Look at Life” events and specialist profession webinars, targeted parent and guardian webinars, MPCT virtual CCLO presentations, University Air Squadron virtual engagement, Springpod vWExp candidates align to on-site specialist events.
  • Specific XO RESPONSIBILITIES: Linking in with input from the SoMo, SO2 Ethnic Minorities (EM) and SO2 Work Experience (WExp), you will be responsible to the SO2 CCLO for overseeing the standardisation and delivery of:
  • Induction of new Staff: Coordinate the induction, training and ongoing development of all new CCLO staff. Monitoring mandatory training requirements against levels of achievement.
  • Standardisation: With responsibility for monitoring the standardisation and quality of delivery and processes across the UK team you will conduct on site 6 monthly quality audits of events across all CCLO bases.
  • Reporting and Data Collation: Analyse data and compile monthly progress returns on the F540 and EI2A SHAREPOINT for all CCLO stations. Maintain complete and accurate EI2A activity records and submit a comprehensive monthly report, including relevant performance data and analysis, to the Chain of Command.
  • Marketing: Oversee the promotion and marketing of all CCLO events liaising with EI2A media team a/r.
  • Deputise for SO2 CCLO in their absence or as/when required.
