The Armed Forces Recruiting Service (AFRS) will see MOD, Serco and their consortium of partners providing a Tri-Service recruiting solution, which for the RN will commence on 1 Apr 27. AFRS will provide end to end support from candidate attraction to assessment to preparing to join Phase 1 training. The solution will utilise Service Personnel in high value candidate facing roles in the Command and Support Unit and in recruitment, selection, Under-Represented Groups, outreach and the national career centre.

Unit Function

Deliver Armed Forces Recruitment to maximise optimal inflow of workforce to support delivery of Defence strategic and operational capabilities.

Position Role

Assessment of candidates’ suitability for Other Rank (OR) training and execution of assessment events and exercises at Assessment Centre.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct briefing sessions, assessment selection exercises and interviews of candidates.
  • Evaluate each Candidate against fixed event exercise criteria.
  • Maintain and monitor selection processes to support & inform assurance and continuous improvements.
  • Make recommendations regarding the candidate’s suitability for a career in the Services and chosen role.
  • Ensure that accurate and relevant event and result records and observations are created and maintained for all OR candidates, using AFRS system.
  • SME advisor on Officer assessment and selection pathway.
  • Line Management and Reporting Officer responsibilities as directed.
  • Share personal, lived experience of life in the Armed Forces to engage and inform candidates.
