The Royal Navy Youth Engagement Team (YET) is a department within the Royal Navy Youth and Cadets pillar, responsible for engaging with young people between 10-18 years old to develop societal understanding and connection to the Royal Navy. The RN YET consists of the STEM Engagement, Youth Engagement and Social Mobility sub-departments. The YET Team Leader's primary role is supporting and co-ordinating the YET Team through delivery of direct engagement and outreach both in face-to-face delivery and utilising all digital channels authorised by SO1 YET. This engagement is delivered through an innovative delivery programme including leadership and development packages and experiential engagement.
PURPOSES
- To create, co-ordinate and deliver coherent engagement and outreach activities that raise awareness of the RN to the general population and specifically young people, through the direction and co-ordination of the YET SO2 North and YET WO North within their AOR.
- Developing networks and relationships with key regional interlocutors, including Business and Community leaders, key educational staff and youth organisations.
- Delivering a coordinated programme of meaningful engagement activities with young people aged between 10-18, raising their awareness of the Royal Navy through both face-to-face direct contact engagement and through authorised digital channels.
ACCOUNTABILITY
YET ROSYTH TL is accountable to YET WO North who will be their 1RO, YET SO2 North is the 2RO.
AUTHORITY
YET ROSYTH TL is authorised to:
- Co-ordinate and deliver approved presentations and activities, both face-to-face and through authorised digital channels, in Schools, Colleges, Universities, Youth Organisations and other community organisations as tasked by CoC.
- Maintain direct liaison with all other YET Team Leader positions in order to ensure that approaches to engagement and outreach are consistent and coherent.
- Develop best practice through co-ordination at the YET Management board as directed by YET WO North.
- Appropriately liaise with key gatekeepers to achieve delivery of engagement and outreach activity.
- For Media and Communications opportunities, maintain direct liaison with YET HQ.
- All groupings of the RN including HM Ships and Establishments.
- Appropriate NRC HQ Staff to exploit events such as Ship visits.
- Army and RAF staffs within his/her region for Tri Service outreach activities.
- The 3 services’ Cadets, Combined Cadet Forces and University Officer Training Organisations.
- MoD and NCHQ Diversity Policy desks through their HQ Policy desks.
TASKS
- Engage with young people through the delivery of approved presentations and activities to deliver a coherent outreach programme that raises awareness of the Royal Navy within their AOR both in face-to-face engagement or through the medium of online delivery platforms.
- Assist YET WO North in leading and coordinating the YET ROSYTH Team in the delivery of the engagement outreach programme.
- Provide LM responsibilities for YET ROSYTH Team OR2-4’s.
- Operate within the assigned budget ensuring YET ROSYTH Team fully comply with all corporate governance guidance and MOD financial regulations and maintain records for audit when required.
- Liaise with peers in the other Services within their AOR, ensuring networks and best practice are shared on a tri-Service basis, attending meetings as required.
- Attend key meetings as required and directed.
- Assist in the maintenance of the records of activities that are carried out by YET ROSYTH Team.
- Prepare data returns for YET SO2 North and YET WO North.
