The mission of SRSW is to deliver motivated and inspired RAF reservists to Royal Auxiliary Air Force (RAuxAF) squadrons, ready to embark on Phase 2 training and ultimately deliver operational output for the RAF.

Reporting to the Wg Executive Officer, the Exec Spt Cpl is a vital member of the SRSW team who will work collectively and collaboratively to deliver our mission through a range of activities to attract and recruit candidates, deliver Phase 1 training, and other tasks to guide, mentor, and support people on their journey into the RAuxAF. Although the SRSW is based at Leuchars Station, the post may be required to work in a variety of locations in the SRSW AOR, with a mix of home working and using the station as an office base when required. To support the delivery of SRSW’s core outputs the role may require occasional travel, overnight stays and weekend working.

Given the nature of the role, other remote working options are available, and consideration given subject to agreement at interview and with the post sponsor. As a newly formed organisation, the SRSW is continuing to develop and evolve how we operate to effectively deliver our mission. We are entrepreneurial, proactive, and work in a highly collaborative, forward leaning, and challenging environment. We work closely with RAuxAF squadrons, civilian employers, outside agencies, and tri-Service personnel to enable a supportive and collaborative environment. Our mantra is: Attract, Engage, Recruit, Train, and Advocate. Your work will be key part of our collective effort to provide the reservists we need for the future.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in a multi-talented diverse team, a self-starter, proactive individual who is content with empowerment and engagement with all ranks as part of a wider team. Someone who is self-dependent, organised, and confident with IT. You will have an enquiring mind, be able to manage resources, make informed assessments, and relay key information in a variety of formats depending upon the audience(s). We will expect you to go the extra mile, but in return we will invest in you, we’re committed to your development. You will be part of a supportive team, working with colleagues, learning from them, and collaborating to achieve great results each time. The Royal Air Force is an equal opportunities employer, and we believe passionately that employing a diverse workforce is central to our success. We make recruiting decisions based on your experience and skills.

As a member of the SRSW team, the responsibilities of the successful applicant may include the following:

  • Undertaking and contributing to engagement activity, including representing the SRSW as a role model and delivering careers presentations at public events, shows, exhibitions, and careers fairs.
  • Day-to-day administration and handling of assigned casework, including safe handling of sensitive material and maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records and documentation as required.
  • Arranging, delivering and supporting events for SRSW, both individually and as part of a team, including familiarisation events, presentations, and conducting interviews.
  • Candidate familiarisation and support for trainees in accordance with the principles of effective CRM, to ensure that their journey is as smooth as possible with the necessary support and guidance available when needed.
  • Supporting the delivery of training, specifically the Basic Recruit Training Course - Phase 1 Part 1 (BRTC Pt1 Ph1).
  • Undertaking assigned projects and other duties as required by CoC to support delivery of SRSW mission.
