CM Ground COS and Spec CM

A vacancy has arisen for a Squadron Leader (Any Profession) to serve as COS and Specialist Career Manager (CM) at RAF High Wycombe on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 1 February 2027, an earlier start date maybe achievable depending on promotion board requirement.

Career Management (CM) is a 1* pillar within the Director People AoR providing comprehensive oversight of career and talent management for both Regular and Reserve personnel. Our primary role is to harmonise individual career aspirations with Service requirements to sustain operational effectiveness.

Role: COS and Spec CM for Chaplain Profession (OF2-OF4), incumbent will work directly to AH CM Ground (Supervising Officer and Line Manager) providing a COS function across AH CM Ground AoR and support wider Executive Team. The successful applicant will also be required to act as Specialist CM for the Chaplain Profession OF2-OF4. The successful candidate will be required to undertake the Career Management Induction Module (CMIM), if not already completed.

The post is responsible for the following:

• Provide executive support to AH CM (Ground) and the CM (Ground) Executive Team, networking and coordinating across the Hd CM COS network to ensure coherence of activity and outputs.
• Coordinate FGen, Honours and Awards, and other directed activity across the AH CM (Ground) AoR.
• Coordinate Civil Service Employment Reward and Thank You schemes across the AoR.
• Coordinate routine staffing activity across CM (Ground), including management of communications, the MULTIUSER account and wider coherence activity.
• Coordinate non-core but essential activity across Risk, QMB, Governance and Assurance workstrands, ensuring appropriate oversight and follow-through.
• Act as Secretary to AH CM (Ground) Executive meetings, and other meetings as required, coordinating inputs, outputs and actions.
• Act as Information Asset Custodian (IAC) for AH CM (Ground).
• Maintain and assure effective Information Management (IM) structures, processes and practices across the AH CM (Ground) AoR.
• Remain liable for call-out under Op PARAPET, augmenting JCCC in the event of a mass-casualty incident.
• Provide urgent-action cover for the OF3 Any Desk during the absence of the SO2 incumbent, ensuring continuity of priority business.
• Deliver the routine specialist CM function for the Chaplaincy Profession (OF2-OF4).
• Coordinate pre-Board, Board and post-Board activity for the No. 3 CSB and No. 2 PSB for the Chaplaincy Profession.
• Administer and coordinate the Commissioned Warrant Officer (CWO) application and selection process, including delivery of two Selection Boards annually.
• Engage across the wider Director People AoR and other 2 Business Areas, as required, to support cross-cutting tasks and delivery of outputs.
• Manage the AH CM (Ground) diary, prioritising engagements and coordinating activity to support effective use of senior leadership time.
• Provide a RES POC for general RFIs, queries and tasks.
• Be prepared to represent OF4 and OF5 leads as required, and undertake additional tasks commensurate with rank and role.

Whilst the role is located at RAF High Wycombe there may be opportunities for some flexible working practices, these will be negotiated with AH CM (Ground). Any training days, All-in Weeks (potentially 2 per year) and the relevant PSB/CSBs require the incumbent to be physically present in the office.
