Subject to formal establishment, Joint Boarding process and sS Policies a vacancy will arise for an OF4 to serve as Future Energy SO1b, Sustainable Support & Energy Transitionat Abbey Wood, Bristol on FTRS Home Commitment Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 1 Jan 27 or earlier if permitted.
Position Role:
To lead the coordination, governance and delivery oversight of the Defence Operational Energy Strategy (DOES), ensuring coherent implementation across Defence and alignment with wider energy transition objectives. The role also provides strategic leadership in the development of key policy areas, including advanced energy technologies, supporting the evolution of the Operational Energy Authority (OEA).
Responsibilities:
- Working to SSET DH, develop, implement and maintain governance structures to track and drive DOES delivery (such as the battery focus group), including reporting to senior boards as appropriate.
- Act as SO1 lead on the development and implementation of the MOD advanced battery strategy.
- Liaise with key energy transition stakeholders including NATO, Allies/Partners, DoS, MSHQ and FLCs, NAD Group and OGDs as required to progress the DOES.
- Support Energy Transition SO1a in managing the governance and progressing the implementation of the Defence Operational Energy Strategy (DOES).
- Provide strategic advice to SSET DH on operational energy transition and DOES prioritisation.
