Subject to Establishment Change Request approval, a vacancy may arise for a FS TG4- ICT Tech to serve as FS DCPT at the Air and Space Warfare Centre (ASWC), RAF Waddington on Full Time Reserve Service (Home Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 30 November 2026 or earlier/later subject to candidate status.
Principal duties include:
Provision of a Distributed-Cyber Protection Team
- Accountable to the Officer Commanding Information Services (ISX) for supporting the strategic Cyber Defence posture of ASWC Communications Information Systems (CIS) through effective leadership and management of the Defence Cyber Protection Team (D-CPT) and Information Exploitation (IX) Team. Responsible for fostering a professional, motivated, and disciplined team environment that supports operational excellence.
- Provide a responsive capability to either react to locally generated Cyber incidents or respond to any A6 Cyber directives in the protection of identified systems such as the progression of MODCERTS.
- Provide strategic oversight and guidance to the DCPT and IX Teams promoting their professional development, operational readiness, and adherence to RAF standards and values.
- Support the ISO27001 Lead Auditor role by coordinating and mentoring D-CPT personnel to conduct comprehensive Information Security Management System (ISMS) audits across all ASWC HQ CIS, ensuring continuous improvement in security posture.
- Oversee the maintenance of Authority to Operate (ATO) for all CIS within ASWC, with particular focus on systems operating within Red Information Protection Zones, ensuring compliance with MOD security policies and risk management frameworks.
- Provide expert advice to ASWC users and leadership on the Secure by Design (SbD) principles, championing the integration of SbD practices in the acquisition and deployment of new equipment and systems.
- Develop strategic relationships with 591SU to promote a culture of cyber defence awareness and best practice across ASWC HQ through the delivery of internal briefings, training programmes, and realistic simulation exercises, enhancing the overall cyber resilience of the organisation.
HQ Support
- Act as Deputy Office Manager in the absence of FS ISX iaw his role’s Terms of Reference, ensuring seamless continuity of office management, operational planning, and resource allocation within the 15-man Flt consisting of Information Management, Information Administration, Operational Support, DCPT and Information Xploitation (IX) Teams and ensure Operational Output isn’t degraded.
- Act as Deputy Section Quality Assurance Co-ordinator (SQAC) ensuring personnel working practices comply with best and approved practices.
Support to ASWC CIS
- Collaborate closely with Operational Support/Information Service Delivery (OST/ISD) and Administration Teams (ISA) delivering SME Cyber and Information Security advice to provide first-line user support and incident response, optimising team capacity and resource utilisation.
- Contribute to strategic planning and capability development within the ISX office, providing informed recommendations to senior leadership on emerging cyber threats, capability enhancements, and personnel development strategies.
