A vacancy has arisen for a SGT – ANY Profession – to serve as Apprenticeship Regional Assurance SNCO 1 at RAF COSFORD on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 02 November 2026.
The Quality Assurance Team within HQ RAF Apprenticeships operates a regionalised structure and there is an exciting opportunity to join the team as one of our Regional Assurance SNCOs. The postholder will undertake assurance reviews on the apprenticeship provision for Cyber CT and CIT RAF Cosford, its satellite apprenticeship centres at RAF Leeming and RAF Digby, Air and Space Ops Air Traffic Control/Weapons Control RAF Shawbury, People Ops, People Specialist, PTI and Vis Comms RAF Cosford. While there will be significant opportunities for remote working, attendance at in-person meetings and events throughout the UK will also be required.
Responsibilities will include:
- Carry out a rotating programme of assurance visits to the Apprenticeship Centres, conducting QA (Quality Assurance) audits to inform the HQ RAF Apprenticeships QIP (Quality Improvement Plan) and risk management tools, providing assurance to the RAF and Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)/Department for Education (DfE) Funding Rules compliance standards.
- Develop a close relationship with the Apprenticeship Centres as the main initial POC for apprenticeship policy, QA and support needs.
- Assist Apprenticeship Centre Managers with training, direction, and guidance via RAF Apprenticeships stakeholders to maintain compliance, develop working practices and employing Continuous Improvement concepts.
- Assist HQ RAF Apprenticeships, specifically with regards to their regional responsibility to conduct Apprenticeship Strategic Management Group meetings, producing informative reports and content to be shared, discussed and challenged with the HQ RAF Apprenticeships SLT and Apprenticeship Standard stakeholders.
- Produce internal QA reports for Apprenticeship Centres and RAF Apprenticeships stakeholders.
- Assist HQ RAF Apprenticeships in the writing, amending and publication of the RAF Apprenticeships Order Book and policy documentation pertinent to their AOR and wider Apprenticeships programme.
- Assist HQ RAF Apprenticeships with QA visits to Apprenticeship Centres outside the core regional centres if required.
- Support the FS IQA during statutory Third-Party Assurance (3PA)/Government Funding Assurance Reviews through co-ordination of regional Apprenticeship Centre activity and timely collation of evidence to ensure audit readiness.
- Operate as a POC for third-party organisations, responsible for the provision of digital support and recording of Individualised Learner Records.
- Maintain CPD in line with HQ RAF Apprenticeships’ direction, actively pursuing development opportunities that enhance knowledge, skills, and effectiveness within the apprenticeship sector.
