A vacancy has arisen for a Flight Lieutenant (Any) to serve as 7006 (VR) Intelligence Squadron Executive Officer (XO) at the Intelligence Reserves Wing, RAF Waddington on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with a start date of 12th October 2026 (or earlier/later, subject to candidate status).
7006 Sqn has an establishment of 117 nationally recruited PTVR Intelligence Analysts working from RAF Wyton and RAF High Wycombe in a variety of intelligence roles. The XO is responsible to OC 7006 Sqn for the effective delivery of organisational development, personnel management and administrative support to the Sqn on a day-to-day basis. The selected individual will be required to attend all monthly Sqn working weekends at RAF Wyton or other working locations as required. The XO has the following responsibilities:
- Deputise for OC 7006 Sqn in their absence and formally act as 2 i/c 7006 Sqn.
- Act as the OCβs principal staff officer, including but not limited to drafting routine orders and submissions, maintaining individual activity and attendance records, completing reports and returns as required by HQ Int Res Wg and HQ Air Command organisations in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and complete pre-working weekend organisational tasks at RAF Wyton and other locations each month including attendance returns, accommodation bookings and transport requests.
- Organise Annual Continuous Training in collaboration with the Int Res Wg Ops team and provide support to the mobilisation process for individual Sqn personnel.
- Complete monthly payroll administration for all Sqn PTVR personnel β currently via the Reserve Attendance & Pay Service (RAPS).
- Ensure effective communication with all Sqn personnel between working weekends through appropriate media channels including MODNET, Defence Connect and other means.
- Act as the first POC for all personnel queries and liaise with the OC, Flt Cdrs and HQ Int Res Wg staff as required to resolve issues presented.
- Drive a high standard of report writing across the Sqn, ensuring target dates within the OJAR/SJAR/MPAR reporting cycle are met.
- Act as Sqn POC of personnel undergoing Ph3 training courses and detached duties.
- Undertake unit level investigations as necessary and support Int Res Wg HR staff in the management of annual returns activities, individual casework and welfare matters.
- Track and manage the completion of Sqn Annual Continuous Training and mandatory training for annual bounty authorisation purposes.
- Undertake secondary duties when tasked.
