A vacancy will arise for a Gp Capt (Any Profession) to serve as the Regional Commandant (South West Region) RAF Air Cadets (RAFAC) at Devizes (Le Marchant Barracks) on a Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of being not before 07 September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to appoint a Regional Commandant within RAF Air Cadets. The successful candidate will lead and inspire the Region’s ATC and CCF (RAF) units, commanding CFAVs and Cadets to deliver RAFAC’s mission with excellence. This is a high-profile leadership role reporting directly to the Commandant RAF Air Cadets (1*), with responsibility for setting strategic direction, ensuring safe and compliant operations, and driving performance across all outputs.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and command all ATC and CCF (RAF) CFAVs and Cadets, delivering RAFAC’s mission and objectives.
  • Provide visible leadership, inspire confidence, and ensure operational excellence aligned with RAFAC strategy.
  • Maintain a safe system of training, safeguarding, and governance; act as Deciding Officer for casework.
  • Exercise financial authority, drive efficient delivery within resources, and oversee CFAV selection, commissioning, and training.
  • Act as DDH for live firing, ensuring risks are ALARP and tolerable.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and represent RAFAC at boards and external engagements.
  • Champion diversity, inclusion, and respect; challenge unacceptable behaviour and ensure fair complaint handling.
