A vacancy has arisen for a Flight Lieutenant, any profession, to serve as Executive Officer at 607 (County of Durham) RAuxAF Squadron, RAF Leeming on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 01 December 2026.
As an RAF Reserve Airbase Operations Support Squadron (AOSS), the role of the Unit is to provide trained personnel from across a variety of branches and trades to augment the RAF in the delivery of military tasks both in the UK and overseas. This post holder is responsible to OC 607 Sqn for the daily routine management of the Sqn, and particularly Sqn HQ Staffs, to meet the roles of the unit and will also be responsible for all aspects of the Sqn’s engagement activities and will undertake the role of Unit Employer Support Officer.
Specific roles and responsibilities include:
- Acting as deputy Squadron Commander 607 Sqn.
- Acting as Flt Cdr for some 607 Sqn HQ personnel.
- Mentoring and support to PTVR Flt Cdrs as appropriate.
- Effective delivery of Sqn mobilisation and tasking processes.
- Acting as the focal point for PTVR and FTRS Career Management matters.
- Acting as the Sqn Unit Employment Support Officer.
- Management, administration and development of the Sqn’s Marketing and Engagement Plan.
- Coordinate and maintain the Sqn Business Continuity Plan.
- Manage the Sqn Establishment.
- Acting as the focal point for Northern Reserve Support Wg (NRSW) recruiting activity.
Regular and proactive engagement with key stakeholders, including, but not limited to: NRSW, 2 Gp Res HQ, ACSSUs and other Reserves Logs Spt Sqns, other AOSS Sqns, A4 Reserves HQ, Employer Engagement Team (EET), Air Regional Employer Engagement Officers (AREEO), R&S Reserves Marketing, Reserves Directorate staffs.
The post holder will be expected to work some weekends (currently one per month) and participate in other sqn training events and exercises as necessary, including remote and in-situ support to Annual Continuous Training events and supporting other sqn activities, such as ceremonial, FD/AT and engagement events.
