A vacancy has arisen for a Wing Commander (Flying) to serve as the Headquarters No 1 Gp Test and Evaluation Air Safety Manager (1 Gp T&E ASM) at the Air and Space Warfare Centre, RAF Waddington on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCo S), with an initial proposed start date of 22 April 2027 (subject to candidate status).
Brief description of role: The 1 Gp T&E ASM leads the ASWC No 1 Gp T&E Air Safety Team (AST) and T&E STANEVAL and works in conjunction with the AOC No 1 Gp STAR to ensure a coherent approach to all ASWC air safety issues and proactive identification of risks.
Responsible for
- Development and maintenance of the 1 Gp T&E ASMS and associated ASMP.
- Provide coordination of, and be the focal point for, Air T&E Air Safety matters.
- Coordinating and standardising all T&E Air Safety activity across the applicable Divisions within the ASWC.
- Conducting Air Safety 2PA of ASWC Sqns and Units and conduct analysis of assurance activity to ensure compliance with regulation and procedures.
- Measuring performance of the 1 Gp T&E ASMS through agreed objectives, targets and performance indicators.
- Promotion of Air Safety across the ASWC.
- Undertaking assurance activity of civilian flying organisations when ASWC personnel are operating on those air systems to ensure Duty of Care and compliance with RA 1167.
- Oversee the development and compliance of ASWC Air Staff Orders.
- Leadership and management of the 1 Gp T&E Air Safety Team, including the ASWC DH facing and Functional Safety personnel.
- Leadership and management of ASWC Staneval.
