Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Hours: 37.5 hours Location: Norwich, Norfolk Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering organisation in Norwich. This role offers the chance to take technical ownership of innovative mechanical design projects within a collaborative and forward-thinking team environment. You\βll play a key role in developing complex mechanical systems from concept through to completion, ensuring that all designs meet the highest technical and safety standards. This is a hands-on position suited to a proactive engineer who enjoys problem-solving, leading design activity, and mentoring others. Key Responsibilities Create and develop detailed mechanical designs and drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. Lead on technical problem-solving, providing support and mentorship to junior engineers. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including datasheets, drawings, and design specifications. Ensure all designs meet relevant safety, certification, and quality standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams in production, operations, and project management to deliver on time and to specification. Participate in design reviews and present technical findings and recommendations. About You HNC/HND (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Proven experience in mechanical design, ideally within complex or safety-critical environments. Proficient in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. Strong capability in producing accurate 2D drawings and 3D models. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across departments. Experience supporting and developing less experienced engineers or apprentices.
