Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7.30am - 4.00pm; Friday, 7.30am - 1.00pm
The Opportunity
An established and highly respected engineering and manufacturing organisation based in Suffolk is seeking a skilled and reliable Fabricator/Welder to join its growing manufacturing team. The business specialises in the design, fabrication, and production of high-quality power generating equipment for the industrial and marine sectors. The Role
As a Fabricator/Welder, you will be responsible for fabricating, welding, and assembling metal components to precise standards. Working from engineering drawings and technical specifications, you will use a range of workshop machinery and equipment to produce high-quality components and finished assemblies.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Conducting MIG/TIG welding and general metal fabrication to precise standards
- Fabricating and assembling metal components for industrial equipment
- Operating workshop machinery, including press brakes, guillotines, saws, drills, and associated equipment
- Performing fitting, finishing, and quality checks on completed assemblies where required
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop
- Working with Rockwool and other insulation materials
- Taking a flexible approach and being willing to undertake tasks outside of typical Fabricator/Welder duties
- Successfully passing a down-hand butt and fillet weld test using MIG
About You
The successful candidate is likely to have:
- Proven experience in welding, fabrication, and sheet metal work
- Experience with MIG/TIG welding and general metal fabrication
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A flexible and positive approach to supporting wider workshop requirements
- The ability to meet the required welding standard through a down-hand butt and fillet weld test using MIG
