Mechanical Design Engineer – Hybrid Working
Location: Norfolk
Job Type: Full-time, Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)
Schedule: Monday to Friday

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. This role involves the design and development of hazardous area heating solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, producing technical drawings, calculations, and documentation to support engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop engineering designs for hazardous area heaters, including drafting and revising technical drawings.
  • Perform engineering calculations and generate technical documentation to support contracts.
  • Utilise Autodesk Inventor and other engineering software for 3D mechanical modelling and drawings.
  • Produce Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensure all designs align with client specifications, industry codes, and internal standards.
  • Ensure design accuracy and compliance with certification requirements, local and international regulations.
  • Verify and validate control system interfaces within the heater design.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Monitor project hours, identifying areas for efficiency improvements.
  • Review and implement client specifications while ensuring timely submission of documentation.
  • Assist in the training of new or trainee staff members as required.
  • Support ongoing projects, including standard product development and the implementation of engineering software within the department.

Key Interfaces:

  • Document Controllers: Ensure compliance with document control requirements and client specifications.
  • Project Engineers & Managers: Work collaboratively to achieve project goals within set deadlines.
  • Engineering Team: Participate in regular reviews to assess progress and set development targets.
  • Sub-contractors & Vendors: Provide technical information, review documents, and support procurement processes.
