About the Role: The Governance Manager is responsible for managing and delivering governance activities for assigned clients or corporate governance. The role ensures that effective governance forums operate as intended, reporting is accurate and timely, and issues are proactively identified, managed and resolved to support service quality, regulatory assurance and client confidence. The role operates with moderate autonomy, making day‑to‑day governance decisions within agreed frameworks and escalating complex or high‑impact issues as appropriate. Success is measured through high‑quality governance reporting, effective issue management, strong client feedback and timely resolution of audit and regulatory matters.

Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain governance frameworks for assigned clients or corporate governance
- Lead governance forums, ensuring agendas, papers, decisions and actions deliver effective outcomes
- Oversee performance monitoring, including SLA and KPI reporting, ensuring accuracy and insight
- Manage governance reporting, MI and action tracking at an operational level
- Identify, manage and resolve governance issues, escalating complex or high‑impact matters appropriately
- Lead incidents, audits and remediation activities within remit, ensuring timely closure
- Build strong client relationships and act as a key governance contact for assigned clients
- Liaise with Risk and Compliance functions to ensure alignment, appropriate escalation and assurance
- Support continuous improvement in governance processes and reporting quality
- Manage, support, coach and develop analysts and junior team members
Essential Skills:
- Strong experience in governance delivery and reporting within a regulated or complex environment
- Proven capability in managing governance forums, actions and reporting cycles
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience overseeing performance metrics, including SLAs and KPIs
- Strong analytical and organisational skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the UK regulatory environment, particularly within financial services
- Governance, risk or compliance qualification (or working towards)
- Experience in pensions, life insurance, outsourcing or third‑party service delivery
- Familiarity with governance tools, systems and reporting platforms
- Experience supporting audits and regulatory reviews
