Junior Headwear Designer –12-Month FTC

As a Junior Headwear Designer, you will develop innovative new products within the portfolio, taking ideas from initial concept through to prototype development.

Working as part of our Booking Program team, which creates the seasonal ranges, you will be responsible for delivering a dedicated proportion of the range from concept through to completion.

You will also contribute to additional strategic design projects, working closely with and under the guidance of the Senior Headwear Designer, Design Manager and Head of Design.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop seasonal headwear ranges from concept through to final product.
  • Create innovative, commercially relevant designs aligned with the brand and consumer needs.
  • Research trends, colours, materials and competitor activity to inform new concepts.
  • Produce sketches, design concepts, technical packs and BOMs with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Develop and refine products through the sampling and prototype stages.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Sourcing and the wider Design team to deliver designs effectively.
  • Support the selection of materials, trims and construction details.
  • Present concepts and contribute to design reviews and wider strategic projects.
  • Manage allocated projects and ensure designs are delivered on time, to quality and commercial requirements.

Previous Experience

  • Ability to translate colour, material and design vision into products.
  • Knowledge of designing product from concept to completion, considering fabric, trims, execution, aesthetics and commercial viability.
  • A proven level of artistic and design ability that has successfully moved a product or program forward.
  • Awareness of the womenswear market, with fabric knowledge and experience in trend analysis.
  • Organizational, time management and prioritizing skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Experience in design software including Illustrator, Photoshop and In-design.
