As a Smart Metering Engineer, you'll be responsible for exchanging traditional meters for smart meters and responding to emergency and maintenance appointments, ensuring customers' smart metering systems are safe, accurate, and fully operational. You'll typically install around 5 meters per day, with the opportunity to boost your earnings through an uncapped productivity bonus for additional jobs completed.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Installing and maintaining gas and electric smart meters in customers' homes
- Responding to emergency and maintenance appointments
- Educating customers on the benefits and safe use of their smart meters
- Managing your daily schedule via tablet (with visibility up to 2 weeks in advance)
- Travelling locally using a company vehicle and fuel card
- Maintaining exceptional health and safety standards at all times
You'll work independently while staying fully supported through weekly meetings, regular check-ins, and accessible Field Managers.
Salary
Outside M25: Dual Fuel £39,033; Dual Fuel (3 Phase/CT) £40,117
Inside M25: Dual Fuel £42,285; Dual Fuel (3 Phase/CT) £43,370
Plus: £2,000 attendance and safety bonus per annum (for full-time roles); Uncapped productivity-related bonus; Overtime at time and a half, double time on Sundays; Standby / call-out payments - £1,000 salary uplift once authorised for 3 Phase and/or Medium Pressure
What You'll Bring
Essential:
- Valid UK driving licence (held minimum 1 year, fewer than 6 points)
- CCN1 / CMA1 / CMA3 with MET1 or NVQ Level 2 in Smart Metering (Dual Fuel)
- Experience installing gas and electric smart meters
- MOCOPA experience to multi-rate level
Desirable (but not essential):
- REGT1 (Medium Pressure)
- 3 Phase qualification
