Job Overview
We are recruiting a Smart Meter Dual-Fuel Engineer to join a leading UK utility services team. This is a handsâon role installing, maintaining, and replacing smart gas meters and electricity meters across homes and small businesses. You will ensure installations meet industry standards, deliver excellent customer service, and adhere to health and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Install, exchange, commission, and decommission smart meters for gas and electricity.
- Diagnose and repair faulty meters, including nonâcommunicating or malfunctioning smart gas or electric meters.
- Conduct safety and compliance checks in line with gas safety regulations, electrical safety standards, and company procedures.
- Deliver excellent customer support, explaining how smart meters work, how to monitor energy usage, and safety guidance.
- Record and report work outcomes accurately using digital systems, ensuring meter data is secure and GDPR compliant.
- Participate in onâcall rotations for emergencies or outâofâhours maintenance.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Valid UK driving licence (minimum 12 months, max six penalty points).
- Recognised gas & metering qualifications such as CCN1 / CMA1 / CMA3 / MET1 or NVQ Level 2 in Smart Meter Installation.
- Previous experience in dualâfuel smart meter installation is preferred, but trainees with correct qualifications are considered.
- Knowledge of health & safety regulations in gas and electrical environments.
- Strong customer service skills, professional communication, and ability to work independently.
- Reliable, detailâoriented, and motivated to complete installations safely and efficiently.

- Additional electrical or metering certifications (e.g., threeâphase or CT metering).
