Responsible to: Commercial Director / Pre-Construction Manager

Purpose of the role: To prepare accurate project costings, tender submissions, and commercial proposals across civil engineering, infrastructure, and construction projects, supporting profitable project delivery and continued business growth.

Client brief: Our client is a well-established engineering consultancy delivering civil, structural, and infrastructure solutions across a diverse project portfolio. They are seeking an experienced Estimator to strengthen their commercial and pre-construction function as project demand continues to grow.

KEY INFORMATION

Reason for vacancy: Continued business growth and increased tender pipeline

Contract: Contract

Salary: Up to £78,000 per annum / £300 day rate (dependent on experience)

Shifts: Monday to Friday

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare accurate tenders, cost plans, and pricing submissions for civil engineering and construction projects
  • Review technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation
  • Complete quantity take-offs, pricing exercises, and cost evaluations
  • Source and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations
  • Support bid submissions, value engineering, and commercial strategy
  • Prepare contract documentation and assist with pre-construction planning
  • Identify project risks, opportunities, and margin improvement areas
  • Liaise directly with internal teams, clients, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • Contribute to securing profitable new business opportunities

Key Skills Required:

  • Proven Estimating experience within civil engineering, infrastructure, construction, or consultancy sectors
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding
  • Experience producing BOQs, tender submissions, and detailed cost plans
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
  • Strong communication and client-facing ability
  • Proficiency in Excel and estimating software packages
  • Knowledge of NEC / JCT contracts advantageous
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
