An established and expanding company based in Fareham is looking to appoint a full time Bookkeeper to take ownership of a broad range of finance and administrative responsibilities. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys variety and autonomy within a supportive and purpose-driven organisation.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable, and ensuring that all financial transactions are processed efficiently. This role is crucial in supporting our financial health and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Main Function of role:
  • Reporting daily to the Finance Director
  • Preparation of accounts to trial balance, journals, pre-payments and accruals
  • Purchase Ledger & Sales Ledger
  • Maintain and update fixed asset register, depreciation etc
  • Assisting with preparing VAT returns
  • Assisting with monthly management accounts
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software such as Sage.
  • Process accounts payable, including verifying invoices and preparing payments.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure all transactions are accounted for accurately.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and budgets as required.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting regulations and standards.
Suitable Candidate for the Bookkeeper vacancy:
  • Level 2/3 AAT Bookkeeping Qualification or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a similar, broad finance role
  • Experience using Sage 50 Accounts
  • Have a positive can-do attitude
  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills with attention to detail
  • Able to work on his/ her own initiative and work well as part of a team
  • Capable of working on multiple tasks daily
  • Able to work with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
