Fantastic opportunity for a QA/QC Welding Engineer to join business as we embark on our new phase of expansion.
Purpose:
To ensure all fabricated items (pipe spools, assemblies, frames) meet Jefferis\’ high-quality standards through rigorous inspection, traceability, and QA documentation.
Position: Welding QA/QC Inspector.
Location: Jefferis Offsite, Bristol Workshop.
Hours: Mon–Thu: 07:00–17:00 & Fri: 07:00–15:00
Salary: 50-60k plus benefits. (Dependent on Experience).
Reports to: Workshop Manager / Production Manager.
Department: Offsite Fabrication.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality & Inspection:
- Inspect all fabricated items against drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Conduct weld inspections: visual, dimensional, and compliance checks.
- Verify fit-up, root quality, final weld condition, and consumables.
- Complete stage inspections and maintain full traceability.
Quality Documentation:
- Record inspections in the digital QA system.
- Complete weld maps, heat number logs, traceability sheets, and spool records.
- Accept or reject items according to quality standards.
- Raise and report Non-Conformances with root-cause analysis.
- Support audits (internal & external).
Workshop Process Control:
- Monitor fabrication activities for quality and process compliance.
- Recommend adjustments to welding/fabrication processes if necessary.
- Ensure adherence to WPS/WPQR, welding parameters, and welder qualifications.
- Support Workshop Manager in enforcing quality standards.
Client & Project Support:
- Assist with Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
- Prepare QA documentation packs for client handover.
- Present QA evidence during client inspections or reviews.
General

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise:
Essential
- Welding QA/QC/inspection role (fabrication, mechanical, or M&E sectors).
- CSWIP 3.1 and above.
- Strong understanding of TIG, MIG, MMA welding processes, materials, and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and isometrics.
- Strong math and technical measurement skills.
- Experience completing QA documentation and non-conformance reports.
- Good written and verbal communication.
- Proficient in MS Office.
Desired:
- Experience with stainless & carbon steel pipework fabrication.
- Experience inspecting coded welders.
- Knowledge of WPS / WPQR compliance.
- Familiarity with mechanical/electrical schematics.
- Prior experience with digital QA systems.
- Living within commutable distance to Bristol.
