The Senior Intelligence Officer works within the Intelligence Division of the Serious Fraud Office. They lead intelligence development operations, using pre‑investigation powers to build cases around serious fraud, bribery, corruption and money laundering. The role involves collecting, validating and presenting intelligence to support formal investigations and court proceedings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead SFO Intelligence Development Operations (‘pre‑investigations’) and develop intelligence packages suitable for formal investigation.
  • Liaise with public and private sector bodies, including other government agencies and police forces, to enhance the intelligence picture.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support intelligence requirements for cases adopted for formal investigation.
  • Provide guidance and oversight of triage of incoming referrals and subsequent intelligence development.
  • Build accurate and comprehensive intelligence pictures, identifying potential areas of interest, and seeking clarification or additional material when necessary.
  • Collate and validate intelligence, evaluate source reliability and credibility to inform strategic direction.
  • Support implementation of National Intelligence Model standards across the SFO.
