Serif Biomedicines is a privately held, early-stage biotechnology company pioneering Modified DNA as a new class of medicines. Modified DNA brings together the best features of mRNA and gene therapy, while mitigating their limitations, by enabling medicines that are durable, redosable, programmable, and scalable.

We are searching for an experienced Sr. Research Associate to drive histology and related bio-analytics for platform development and therapeutic proof-of-principle. More broadly, we are looking for an individual who enjoys working with animal models and brings scientific rigor, intellectual curiosity, enthusiasm, and a desire to innovate new nucleic acid therapeutics. This individual will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, working both independently and as part of a highly collaborative and rapidly growing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execution and analysis of bio-analytics, including histology, to assess efficacy, safety and biodistribution of novel nucleic acid therapeutics.
  • Provide scientific and technical perspectives to advance platform development.
  • Develop in-house capabilities to support work performed at CROs.
  • Effectively communicate experimental findings in oral, written, and visual formats.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Qualifications:

  • Masters or BS in relevant discipline with 5+ years of industry experience. Level will be based on experience.
  • Experience with in-vivo studies, ideally involving LNP delivery and/or nucleic-acid based therapeutics in rat, mouse, and NHP.
  • Deep expertise in ex-vivo analytical assays such as ELISA, MSD, qPCR, ddPCR, FACS, etc.
  • Experience with histological tissue analysis (IHC/IF, ISH, H&E, etc.) including tissue harvest, embedding, sectioning, staining, imaging and image analysis.
  • Experience with various mouse and rat models of diseases is a plus.
  • Experience performing in-vivo procedures in rodents, including preparation and administration of therapeutics and collecting material (blood, tissue, etc.) for ex-vivo analysis is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with flow-cytometry, including panel design, execution and analysis is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate flexibility in supporting the accelerated timelines associated with data generation, analysis, and reporting for in vivo studies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, and rapidly growing biotech environment.

The salary range for this role is $81,000 - $107,250. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
