The Tax Manager leads the end-to-end management of Serica Energy’s UK tax affairs, ensuring full compliance alongside accurate, transparent and timely reporting. The role carries clear accountability for maintaining robust, well-governed tax positions that align with both legislation and industry practice, reinforcing confidence in the company’s financial integrity.

Operating within a complex and evolving fiscal landscape, the Tax Manager provides technical leadership across key upstream regimes and supports strategic decision-making on transactions, asset development and business planning. Through a strong focus on empowerment and accountability, the role ensures tax considerations are embedded in commercial and operational outcomes.

A central aspect of the role is building strong, collaborative relationships across the business and with external stakeholders. Through clear and effective communication, the Tax Manager translates complex tax matters into practical insight, enabling confident decision-making while acting as a trusted interface with HMRC.

The Tax Manager monitors changes in UK tax legislation and policy, assessing their impact on Serica’s operations and strategy. We are seeking a technically strong and commercially aware tax professional who can lead with clarity, influence and integrity.

Leadership & Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert for UK upstream oil & gas taxation
  • Lead tax compliance and reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Provide strategic tax advice on transactions, investments and business planning
  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders and translate complex issues clearly
  • Manage HMRC interactions, enquiries and audits with confidence
  • Strengthen governance frameworks and continuously improve tax processes

Experience & Qualifications

  • Significant experience in UK oil & gas taxation (upstream focus preferred)
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK corporate and ring fence taxes, including EPL
  • Proven track record in statutory tax reporting and compliance
  • Solid understanding of UK tax legislation and policy impacts on the sector
  • Experience engaging with HMRC and supporting audits or enquiries preferred
