As our Additional Learning Support (ALS) Lead in the Employability, Skills and Training (EST) team, you'll shape an inclusive learning environment where every learner has the opportunity to thrive. Your work will directly support people with diverse learning needs to progress, succeed and move confidently towards their future goals. You'll help create positive impact across communities by championing inclusion, empowering colleagues, and ensuring learners with additional needs receive the right support at the right time.

What you'll do as an Additional Learning Support Lead:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for Additional Learning Support across our training provision, ensuring high‐quality support for learners with additional needs.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for inclusion, SEND (special educational needs and disabilities), reasonable adjustments and statutory requirements.
  • Lead effective identification, assessment and review of learner needs using robust initial assessment and diagnostic processes.
  • Design and quality assure inclusive strategies and learner support plans that enable equitable access to learning and assessment.
  • Coach and support tutors, trainers and assessors to embed inclusive, adaptive teaching practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of support interventions using learner data, progress reviews and achievement outcomes.
  • Ensure ALS provision meets Ofsted expectations related to inclusion, personal development and learner outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate ALS records in line with compliance, audit and funding requirements.
  • Oversee the effective and compliant use of ALS funding, ensuring value for money.
  • Work collaboratively with safeguarding, quality and curriculum teams to support learners with complex needs.

You'll be a great fit for this role if you have:

  • A Level 5 qualification in education, SEND, learning support or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience leading or coordinating Additional Learning Support within adult education, apprenticeships or work‐based learning.
  • Strong working knowledge of SEND legislation, best practice and reasonable adjustments in post‐16 education.
  • Experience identifying and supporting learners with a wide range of needs, including learning difficulties, disabilities, neurodiversity and mental health needs.
  • Ability to interpret initial assessment, diagnostic and progress data to inform effective support planning and intervention.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and organisational skills, with the ability to influence and support colleagues.
