Location: HMP Dovegate, Uttoxeter, ST14 8XR

Salary: £30,488 per annum, plus excellent benefits

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 8am‑4:45pm

About the Role

As a Work Coach in our Education, Skills and Work team, you’ll support individuals to build confidence, develop skills, and take meaningful steps towards employment both during custody and beyond release. Your work will help reduce reoffending and create a positive impact on communities by supporting rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver one‑to‑one and group sessions on employability, career planning, and effective disclosure
  • Assess individuals’ skills, interests, and aspirations, developing tailored learning and career plans
  • Support the development and regular review of learning plans, setting clear and achievable goals
  • Provide guidance on education, training, and employment pathways based on labour market information and individual circumstances
  • Deliver workshops on CV writing, interview preparation, and job search skills
  • Build strong, supportive relationships and collaborate with education teams and stakeholders to support progression

Qualifications

  • Hold a level 4 careers qualification or equivalent or be willing to achieve one in post (fully funded by Serco)
  • Experience delivering careers advice, guidance, or employability support
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and motivate others
  • The ability to work with individuals with complex needs in a structured environment
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage a caseload and meet targets
  • A resilient, adaptable approach and a commitment to making a positive impact

Vetting and Checks

An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire.
