As a Sustainability and Climate Resilience Lead in our Justice and Immigration Team, based at HMP Dovegate, you’ll guide the delivery of our sustainability ambitions and climate‑ready operations. Your work will help protect people, places and essential services by embedding environmental responsibility and future‑focused planning into the way we operate.
What you’ll do as a Sustainability and Climate Resilience Lead:
- Develop, maintain and implement the site’s Sustainability Plan, including targeted action plans for energy, water and environmental performance.
- Lead the delivery of sustainability activity across services, promoting innovation, behaviour change and responsible resource management.
- Monitor and report performance against sustainability requirements, Government commitments and contract obligations.
- Maintain and support environmental management systems aligned to ISO14001.
- Identify opportunities for new technologies, processes and approaches that support sustainability goals and climate resilience.
- Collect, analyse and report data on energy, water, waste, carbon and transport to drive performance improvement.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to meet targets for reducing consumption, emissions and waste.
- Support the delivery and reporting of social value initiatives, chairing on‑site groups and collaborating with Serco’s Social Value teams.

- Experience in environmental or sustainability management.
- Knowledge of current environmental compliance requirements and ISO14001 systems.
- Experience delivering sustainability or environmental improvement projects.
- Understanding of social value models in Government procurement.
- Strong analytical skills and confidence preparing sustainability reports.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence multidisciplinary teams.
- PC literacy across Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- A full UK driving licence.
