Salary: £38,814 plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Monday-Friday 08:00 - 16:30, including participation in an out‑of‑hours on‑call rota (on‑call allowance will be paid)
As a Mechanical Engineer in our Facilities Management team, you’ll play a vital role in keeping a secure establishment safe, compliant, and operating effectively. Your expertise will help ensure critical mechanical and gas systems run reliably every day, supporting colleagues, residents, and the wider community.
What You’ll Do
- Carry out routine mechanical engineering work, planned preventive maintenance, repairs, and testing of gas systems
- Diagnose faults and complete defect rectification on plant and equipment across the site
- Install new mechanical plant and equipment in line with specifications and standards
- Ensure maintenance schedules and compliance records are kept up to date
- Support a multi‑skilled facilities management team, including escorting contractors when required
- Work safely at all times, following statutory requirements, site procedures, and local regulations
Qualifications
- A recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship or equivalent trade‑based qualification (such as C and G or NVQ)
- Gas Safe registration with experience in both commercial and domestic systems
- The ability to work independently, manage your workload, and meet tight timescales
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, customer‑focused approach
- A flexible, proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
Desirable
- Qualified as an Authorised Person (AP) or willing to undertake training and assessment to become an AP
Vetting & Checks
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
