Schedule: Part-time, 21 hours per week, Monday to Sunday, Fixed Term contract (6 months)
As a Customer Service Assistant at NorthLink Ferries, you’ll be part of a frontline team delivering a welcoming, reliable service to customers using one of Transport’s flagship ferry contracts. Your role will help keep communities connected and ensure every customer interaction is handled with care and professionalism. Based in our busy Stromness call centre, you’ll support customers with bookings and enquiries while developing valuable skills in a customer‑focused environment. Responsibilities- Handle telephone, email, and web‑based customer enquiries and bookings
- Take customer payments accurately and securely
- Make customer reservations by phone, email, and in person
- Support check‑in and boarding of passengers when required
- Work as part of a team to support the effective day‑to‑day running of the department
- Follow standards, procedures, and health, safety and environment requirements at all times
- A genuine commitment to delivering excellent customer service
- Confidence communicating with customers and colleagues, both on the phone and in person
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow processes and standards
- A positive, can‑do attitude and willingness to take ownership of your development
- Confidence using a computer and telephone systems
