Location: SGS Oakhanger, Bordon, Hampshire GU35 9JA

Salary: £28,832.74 per annum plus 12% flexibility allowance (£3,459.93) and excellent benefits

Schedule: Full time, 43 hours per week – shift pattern of 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off – Applicants should be willing to work flexible hours as required and will be onsite.

As a Security Guard in our Skynet contract team, you’ll play a vital role in protecting critical infrastructure that supports secure communications for the UK Government and Armed Forces. Your work will help ensure safety, security, and continuity in an environment where reliability matters most. In this role, you’ll be part of a trusted team delivering high standards of security while supporting a mission that has a real impact on national operations. What you’ll do as a Security Guard:

  • Act as the first line of defence in support of the site mission
  • Carry out patrols and escort duties across the site
  • Conduct vehicle and baggage searches
  • Issue and receive keys and maintain accurate records
  • Monitor CCTV, intrusion detection systems and entry control systems
  • Process visitors and maintain secure site access
  • Complete detailed reports and maintain clear documentation
  • Liaise with other security personnel and external agencies
  • Support ongoing training and development activities

Vetting and checks:

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.

Eligibility to work in the UK Compliance with Defence Academy and Serco security, operational, and training requirements.
