As a Propulsion Technician in our Typhoon Propulsion Support Facilities team, you’ll help keep the RAF Typhoon platform mission‑ready by ensuring EJ200 engines and accessories are expertly maintained and fully serviceable. Working at the forward–depth interface, you’ll play a key role in delivering maintenance solutions that directly support national defence capability. Your work has purpose — creating impactful solutions that help protect communities, support the future of aviation, and ensure our colleagues can trust in the equipment they rely on every day.
What you’ll do as a Propulsion Technician
- Safely move all assets throughout the TPSF, including using forklifts and cranes
- Unpack and re‑pack engines and line‑replaceable items (LRIs) as required
- Conduct visual and boroscope inspections on engines and associated hardware
- Perform EJ200 engine repairs
- Remove, install, and repair engine modules and accessories
- Embody outstanding engineering instructions and modifications
- Complete data tasks on engine and aircraft electronic systems, including raising and recording work orders
- Maintain a tidy, well‑equipped workshop using 5S principles
- Improve processes to ensure compliance with Military Aviation Authority (MAA) regulations
- Maintain competency and currency on EJ200 engines, across both practical and data processes
- Complete any additional duties as directed by the Propulsion Operations Lead or DE&S Management Team

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
