Salary: £44,500 Shift Allowance Inclusive plus excellent benefits

Schedule: Full Time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week) 8-week cycle working a mixture of days and nights (07:00 to 19:00 and 19:00 to 07:00)

Ready to impact a better future? As a Plumber and Fitter in our Estates team, you’ll help ensure essential mechanical and plumbing services remain safe, reliable and available around the clock. Your work will support the smooth operation of a busy hospital environment where every task contributes to patient care and the wellbeing of colleagues, patients and visitors.

By maintaining critical building services and responding quickly to issues, you’ll play an important role in creating a safe and effective healthcare environment. What you’ll do as a Plumber and Fitter:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on mechanical and plumbing systems across the hospital site.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests and complete repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Record all work activities, actions taken and time spent using the appropriate computerised systems.
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-skilled Estates team to provide a high-quality maintenance service.
  • Support minor improvement projects and capital works as directed by Estates management.
  • Provide an initial response to out-of-hours mechanical and plumbing issues, escalating where required.

Does this sound like you?

  • You hold a recognised Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) apprenticeship or equivalent qualification, with a minimum of NVQ Level 3.
  • You have substantial experience working within a building services or maintenance environment.
  • You have a good understanding of safe systems of work and health and safety requirements.
  • You are customer focused, reliable and able to follow instructions safely and effectively.
  • You can work confidently as part of a team while also using your own initiative and judgement.

Vetting and checks: A Standard DBS check will be carried out for this position. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and warnings as permitted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
