Role Overview

We are looking for a compassionate, dependable, and dedicated support worker to provide care for a young child with complex medical and physical needs, living at home with their family. The child has a neurological condition affecting development, epilepsy, and a neuromuscular condition resulting in significant weakness in the lower limbs. They are non-ambulant and require full support with transfers and repositioning. The role involves assisting with airway management, including suctioning, deep suctioning, and chest physiotherapy due to difficulties managing secretions. You will also support PEG feeding, including administering feeds and medication. The child follows a blended diet via gastrostomy, which has had a positive impact on their overall wellbeing. They have made excellent developmental progress and attend school five days a week when well. You will support school attendance and participation in daily activities. The child is vocal, enjoys interaction, and engages well with others. They enjoy sensory and water-based play, outdoor activities, and social interaction. They are very family-oriented and enjoy spending time with siblings. Experience in suctioning and PEG feeding is essential, along with previous experience supporting individuals with complex care needs.
